Poem 0406091320

gloomy, dirty day
winter's terror now receding
but Spring taunts Northeast clime
revealing
by snow, now melted
a whole winter's garbage
and naked trees
with cold, wet claws
scratching leaden skies

wordlessly
I traverse sunken gray asphalt
a scar upon the earth
named Expressway
while staring numbly at
endless rows of cement filing cabinets
called Housing Projects

weary dejection hangs
like mildewy wet clothes
